Carved lintel, Arkleside.
The picture is from a newspaper cutting which reads:
"This elaborately carved lintel with the initials TH and IH, and the defaced date in the late 17th century, was photographed at Arkleside, in Coverdale, by a reader, Mr E.D. Nicholl, of Hartlepool. He was told that there were several other cottages in the vicinity in leadmining days, and the building was a thriving public house."
